Is it Bul-go-gi or Bool-go-gi?

Bulgogi is sliced marinated beef and can be found in packs in the Asian grocery store. If you don’t have one nearby, ask your butcher to give you very thin slices of tenderloin.

The marinade for bulgogi is a soy sauce based one. You don’t need a ton of it to give the beef great flavor. Just make sure you have time to let it marinate overnight, then grilled. If you have a grill, use it! It will taste extra yummy that way.
Recipe: Bulgogi (Korean marinated beef)
Makes 3-4 servings
Ingredients:
1.5 Ibs. of sliced beef
1/2 cup of soy sauce
2.5 tbs. of sugar
1 tsp. of sesame oil
2 tsp. of minced garlic
1 large onion, cut into strips
2 stalks of scallion, cut into long strips
3 tbs of rice wine or sake (optional)
Procedure:

1. Defrost beef if frozen. Remove from package. Separate slices and place into a large bowl. (I used a plastic bowl with a lid so I don’t have to use two bowls and put this one in the fridge when I’m done marinating.)

2. Using a pair of tongs, add soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic and mix together.

3. Add sesame oil. Then, add onions and scallion.
4. Refrigerate overnight, if possible. If not, then at least for 3 hours.
5. Grill over high heat. Serve with rice and romaine lettuce for wrapping with a side of gochujang.
