When there’s nothing to eat…

12 Dec

I’d like to know – when you’re starved and there is nothing to eat, what do you do?

Do you pick up the phone and order something, even though you have to wait at least another 30 minutes to actually eat? Or do you brave the cold and go outside to pick up something? Eat a cookie, a banana, then a tablespoon of peanut butter and call it a meal?

As for me, I look around to make something with whatever is on hand. So I turned to this:

It sort of looks like a block of curry or some strange chocolate, right?

Here’s what I did: I used up a small part of a chicken bouilln cube (see it now?) for the broth. Added some black pepper. Boiled some soba noodles separately. Combined everything together. Then, finished it off by throwing in a couple of eggs for protein and some green onions.

This doesn’t even qualify as a real recipe since there is nothing traditional or “right” about this. A traditional soup noodle called Jang Tuh Gooksoo should contain beef broth, white noodles, etc etc.

But all I can tell you is that it tasted dang good. And it was hearty and filling. :)
