Chimicchurri sauce with steak

26 Dec

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!!

I’ve had chimicchurri sauce in Argentinian restaurants and never really gave it a second thought until I came across this post. It seemed like I had most of the ingredients on hand so I decided to give it a try.

Recipe: Chimicchurri sauce

Ingredients:

1 bunch of parsley
1 bunch of cilantro
4 cloves of garlic
1 hot pepper, de-seeded
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 – 3 large glugs of olive oil
1 shallot, roughly chopped
large pinch of salt

Procedure:

1. Blend together.

2. Eat!

I picked up some beautiful purple cabbage so I used it as a salad to go with my potatoes and a small slice of beef. This dish was created in record time of 15 minutes because I was so famished. :)

interesting… it’s like a paste. I wonder what it tastes like. I’m not a fan of cilantro. I wonder if I would still like this?

You didn’t say how it tasted! I am a huge fan of chimichurri (had some when I was in Miami: http://www.ajchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/_mg_0220.jpg) and I’ve found that it is usually more runny due to the predominance of olive oil. I’m with Cate, I can’t stand cilantro but in chimichurri sauce it doesn’t bother me at all.
