I do a slight variation, basically I saute as much as I can in the 1st steps (onion, garlic, salted shrimp, pepper flakes, kimchi, mushroom, oil etc) before I add the broth to the whole thing. I also add a bit of salt, and try to reduce the whole stock down as much as possible to get the intense flavor.
