Recipe Round Up: Superbowl Sunday Snack Ideas

2 Feb

Before I met my fiance, Superbowl Sunday was an excuse to get together with friends to eat fatty food and hang out. And to watch the commercials in between conversations.

Meanwhile, my fiance will watch hours of football on a weekly basis. Not sure when it happened, but one day we watched football together and I actually started to enjoy it. While I don’t think I can handle watching football for 12 hours straight, I am slowly starting to appreciate the game and its intricacies. Who would have thought? :)

Recipe: Happily-ever-after Pineapple Salsa

19 Oct

Blogging about food for the past 3 years has provided me with lots of amazing opportunities. I get to attend amazing food events, review products, and most importantly, mingle with amazing people who share my passion for food. I’m very blessed to be able to do something I love!

Another bonus is that I get to cater for special events! My friend Emily hired me to cater a bridal shower she hosted a couple of weeks ago. The name of this salsa is especially appropriate because I made it 2 days after I got engaged. :) I had a great time preparing this menu, and I hope everyone enjoyed the food!

Want to know what I else made for the shower? Read more to find out!

Recipe: Smoked Salmon Tea Sandwiches

28 Sep

As I mentioned before, we threw our friend Sharon a Audrey Hepburn themed bridal shower, which was super fun! Along with the frittata recipe I shared in my previous post, I made open faced cucumber tea sandwiches as well as smoked salmon tea sandwiches.

Right before the shower started, I assembled the sandwiches. In the process, I completely forgot to take photos of the step by step directions! But I hope you will forgive me and still try out this recipe, because it is super easy and yum.

Recipe: Jalapeno and Goat Cheese Crostini

6 May

I picked up King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls that have apparently been around for quite some time but once again, I’m late to the party. They’re slightly sweet dinner rolls that remind me of the rolls you buy at the Asian bakery. Have I been missing out this entire time?! Why haven’t I seen them around NYC?

Crostini, also known as “little toasts,” refer to small pieces of bread that are perfect as finger foods. In fact, I’m sure you’ve had your share of crostini or two at your last cocktail party. And the best part is that you can top bread with anything you want!

Everything in this recipe was created from the ingredients I had in my fridge (I love it when that happens!). The Chinese broccoli and jalapenos desperately needed to be used, along with the leftover cup of pasta sauce in my fridge.

Party food: bacon wrapped potatoes

11 May

Can you tell that I’m now officially obsessed with Sriracha sauce? To be more specific, Sriracha sauce mixed with other condiments? If you think about it, there are a lot of possibilities! Sriracha with Hoisin is also another clear winner, which is a must-have when eating Vietnamese Pho. Can you think of other winning combinations?

Let’s face it – bacon wrapped anything is not earth shatteringly complicated or new, but one thing’s for sure – it is freaken delicious! And I’m sure your party guests will ask you for more!
