<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">Tu Lan is a hole in the wall Vietnamese place off of Market St in San Francisco, CA. It&#8217;s in a shady neighborhood, but I&#8217;m willing to travel far and wide for good food. =) I found out about Tu Lan after reading <a href="http://umamimart.blogspot.com/2008/08/met-up-with-vs-good-friend-esther-for.html">this</a>, coincidently, right before I went to San Francisco.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">(Btw, 25 cents = 5 minutes of parking. FIVE minutes!!!)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">One of the owner&#8217;s sons (I THINK he was the son, not sure who he was, really)started making conversation with me and was kind enough to give me suggestions on what to order.</span></p>
<div><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">He recommended the fried rice.</span></div>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">&#8220;What&#8217;s so great about the fried rice?&#8221; I asked.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">&#8220;Grease,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Lots of grease.&#8221;</span></p>
<div><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">Works for me.<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;"> Now, onto the food! </span></span></div>
<div><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;"><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;"><span id="more-550"></span></span></span></div>
<div>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">It was lunchtime so there was a long line out the door. I heard the owner say &#8220;Same dish today? See you next week,&#8221; a couple of times to different customers.</span></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-552" title="Emperial roll" src="http://www.ambitiousdeliciousness.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/img_0856.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
</div>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;"><br />
The Emperial roll. It&#8217;s basically a double-fried spring roll with a side of fish sauce. How can you go wrong?</span></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-555" title="pho" src="http://www.ambitiousdeliciousness.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/pho.jpg" alt="" width="375" height="500" /></p>
<div>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">The Pho broth had tons of flavor and I especially liked the extra thick noodles. Not a fan of raw onions though.<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-553" title="Bahn Hoi" src="http://www.ambitiousdeliciousness.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/img_0859.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></span></span></p>
<div>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">The Banh Hoi with beef was so good! The beef was tender, cooked perfectly and it went well with the rest of its dish components.<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-556" title="curryfriedrice" src="http://www.ambitiousdeliciousness.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/curryfriedrice.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></span></span></p>
<div><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">The curry fried rice was yummy but very greasy. But yes, we were forewarned. <img src='http://www.ambitiousdeliciousness.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> <span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Century Gothic;">If you&#8217;re looking for a cheap meal in SF, then you should definitely check this place out. This whole meal was less than $30, with tons of leftovers. </span></span></div>
